After months of construction and many thousands of your hard earned dollars spent, you finally have that beautiful new bathroom you have always wanted.  And yet, something seems to be missing, or perhaps not quite right.  But what could it be?  In most cases it’s the bathroom accessories.  If you are like most people who are remodeling their bathroom, you have probably spent a lot of time thinking through just about all of the details except the accessories and how they are going to fit in stylistically with the changes you have made.

When referring to accessories, we are talking about all those little practical things that help your bathroom function on a daily basis.  These include things like a soap dish, the robe hooks, the toilet brush and holder, the towel bar or rings, and the corner shower shelf.  These things just are not in the forefront of most people’s thinking when they are redesigning their bathroom, and so they are easily overlooked.

But while these things are functional, they are also decorative, and they greatly affect the overall look and feel of the bathroom.  So when selecting these items, pay attention to how they are going to look in your new bathroom, starting with the color, of course.  Beyond the color, you will want to consider the different kinds of materials of composition that are available.  For many accessories you will have a choice of materials, including wood, plastic, ceramic, and metals such as stainless steel, bronze, chrome, and aluminum.  Gold and silver plated accessories are also usually an option.

The overall style and theme of your new bathroom is going to ultimately determine the style of accessories that you will select.  Certain colors and styles will work better in a traditionally designed bathroom, for example, than in a contemporary themed one.  In the end the trick is to choose the accessories that will enhance the overall look and feel of your bathroom, but without sacrificing the functionality of those same accessories.  After all, they’re not just there for show; they have a job to do as well.

Almost all of us are choosing white bathrooms these days. They look good and, in most cases, you cannot buy anything else anyway. However, a white bathroom can look a little bland unless you inject some color with your accessories. If you would like a blue bathroom, you can either run around finding accessories in your chosen color or you can cut to the chase and start looking for blue bathroom sets.

You will save a lot of time if you decide to buy a bathroom set as all the work of coordinating different items has been done for you. With some sets, the manufacturer only goes as far as putting a set together with a soap dish or dispenser, toothbrush holder and beaker, but for others, you will find a whole range of items including shower curtains, towels, bath mat , waste bin and tissue box holder.

When choosing your set, think about the exact color of blue you would like because there are sets in sky blue or navy blue, turquoise or pastel blue, but if you cannot make up your mind, you can always buy a multi-colored set. There are some lovely bathroom sets in thin multi-stripes in all shades of blue, for example. Most, however, have a motif or two in one shade of blue on a white background.

If you are looking for something up to the minute you will find bathroom sets generally on sale in the smarter bathroom stores where they use them in displays of the latest bathrooms. You will also find them in cut price designer warehouses which sell all kinds of items for your home. In both places, you will discover the latest colors to be teamed with blue and the most up to the minute shade of blue to use (if blue is in fashion). As blue tends to stay in vogue for bathrooms you should generally be able to find what you need.
