Aluminum Bar Stools Buying Tips

Aluminum bar stools can be a great addition to you home, especially to your den, game room, or kitchen.  Here are a few tips to help you find the best ones.

When purchasing aluminum bar stools always pay special attention to construction details. Heavier construction materials like steel and aluminum generally last longer and hold more weight than lightweight materials, such as most wood products. Aluminum bar stools that have a solid frame construction will last longer than stools which are assembled in multiple parts. The fewer nuts, bolts, and screws required to hold the stool together, the better. Nuts, bolts, and especially screws tend to loosen and wear over time. A solid frame with fewer welds (uni-body construction) is desirable, if more costly, and will typically come with a longer warranty.

In addition, the aluminum itself should be of the highest gauge possible. The thicker the tubing, the stronger and heavier the stool will is going to be. That is, if a stool has hollow metal framing, just how hollow is it? Thicker tubing allows for stronger welds. Acceptable gauges for aluminum tubing in furniture ranges from 1-gauge to 30-gauge. The lower the gauge, the thicker the metal.

When buying padded aluminum bar stools, the quality of  foam used in the bar stool cover should also be considered. This is generally based on its thickness, density, and load deflection. Inferior foam products will degrade fairly quickly, so look for density ratings of around 18 – 32 (the higher the number, the better). Lower grade foams can break down in as few as six months while higher grade foams can last several years.

Nothing says sleek, modern style like an aluminum bar stool. Plus there are the many practical benefits of having a bar stool suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Cleaning and maintenance is also made easier with aluminum furniture as opposed to wood.
