Ideas to Refresh Your Bedroom

The bedroom is by far far the room in which we will spend the greatest amount of time. For that reason, it’s vitally important that you spend the time to make it as appealing as possible. Don’t neglect it simply because most of your time in the bedroom is spent sleeping. Keep in mind that it is both the first and last room of the day for you, every single day.

Sprucing up a bedroom may be more challenging these days considering the financial squeeze many people are experiencing. In this article we’ll look at some ways to improve your bedroom without having to shell out any money at all.

Rearrange the furniture It may sound silly, but re-situating a room can give it an entirely new and different feel. One of the things you may want to try it moving away from a ‘square’ set up. Try putting some of the furniture at an angle to create some different space in your room.

Add some textures and colors Look around your home or even a second hand shop for things like scarves, sheets or table cloths that can add complimentary colors to your room, as well as covering and softening some harder edged furniture such as dressers or chairs. Another thing you can do (if you haven’t already) is to add some throw pillows to your bed. Mixing sizes, colors and fabrics can add a lot of new pizazz to an otherwise dull space. Add a little vegetation A plant always adds a nice tough to a room. See if you have a plant somewhere else in the house that might work well if it were to be relocated to your bedroom. If you don’t have any, ask a friend, relative or co-worker who is into plants if they can give you a cutting off of one of theirs (most people know someone who is into plants, and they’ll know what will work well for your situation). If you decide to go buy a plant, ivy is often a good, attractive and hearty option.

Add some fragrance to the air Smell is a very powerful sense. Adding a bit of potpourri or incense can give a room a dreamy, magical feeling. If you don’t have anything like this, you can use dried orange peel along with some sweet spices you might have in your pantry such as cinnamon, nutmeg or allspice. Remember, spices are powerful, so only use a small amount. Place the mixture in a small bowl and leave it to permeate throughout your room.

So as you can see, there are quite a few small, but not insignificant changes you can make to your bedroom without spending any (or very little) money at all. These efforts can drastically change the environment in which you start and end each and every day. And sometimes, we all need a little change to keep moving forward.
