Whether you are planning to buy a pine wardrobe for your bedroom or you already have one, it is important that you know how to properly care for it. Any piece of furniture, no matter how sturdy it is, will not last very long if you do not take good care of it. You have to know that furniture pieces are not cheap and they are something that you cannot afford to buy every so often, especially in these times when buying good quality furniture pieces is considered a luxury, not a necessity.

Pine wardrobe is different from other wooden wardrobe like oak or mahogany because pine is softwood and the other two are hardwood. This does not mean that pine is not a good quality wood because it is. You just have to know how you should care for it. To make your pine wardrobe last for years, you have to remember the tips outlined below.

• Do not expose your wardrobe in very hot and humid places. Humidity causes the pine wood to expand and bend while heat causes it to crack and shrink. Make sure that your bedroom is properly ventilated. Do not place the wardrobe near the fireplace, heater, or window where it is directly exposed to sunlight.
• It is also important not to put any hot or chilled objects on the surface of the wardrobe like a cup of hot coffee or a glass of iced tea. If you really need to put your cup of hot coffee or glass of iced tea on your wardrobe for some reason, you should at least use a coaster so that the cup will not come in contact with the wood.
• If you see that your pine wardrobe is accumulating dust and dirt, it is important that you clean it. Cleaning your wardrobe will not only make it last longer but it will also make your room look tidier and more attractive. You can sue a duster or small vacuum cleaner to remove the dust. If the dirt is difficult to remove using vacuum or cleaner, you can use a clean damp cloth. The cloth should be damp, not soaking wet.
