All Clad Slow Cooker

If there’s one ‘extra’ cooking appliance that every home cook should have access to, it is that of a slow cooker. And when looking at them, if you’re looking to go with the best of the best, one of the top choices to consider has to be the All Clad slow cooker. While there are a lot of options out there when it comes to crock pots and slow cookers, and you really can cook some great food in even the simplest, low budget models, if you want to have total control over your food and how you prepare it, you will need to go with one that is a little higher-end, and All-Clad delivers that in spades.

Let’s first take a look at slow cookers (crock pots) as a general tool and mode of cooking before we get too involved in any name brands. As mentioned above, you can find a slow cooker quite inexpensively and once you learn to cook with them, they can be a simple, affordable way to create home cooked, tasty and nutritious food that even a college student can learn how to manage.

Typically you will find crock pots (crockpot and slow cooker are terms that are used interchangeably but mean the same thing) in sizes ranging from 4, 5 or 6 quart capacities. Some do get even larger than that, such as the 6.5Q electric slow cooker by All-Clad. When you’re prepping food for a large group, or a group of really hungry folks, you’ll be glad to have the extra capacity, trust me.

In addition to being able to prepare some delicious foods, slow cookers can also be used to slowly and gently re-heat pre-cooked food. This is a great option for college students for example; they can get a bunch of mom’s frozen lasagna, put some in the cooker before heading to the library to study for a couple of hours, and have perfectly heated, home made dinner by the time they get back.

When you compare this to the all to frequent habit of college kids eating at fast food joints, you’ll quickly see why a slow cooker, even if it’s not the cheapest slow cooker out there, will be a good investment both financially as well as for over all good health.

If the student decides they want to try doing a bit of cooking, (actually, this applies to anyone who doesn’t have a lot of experience in the kitchen), a slow cooker is a great way to get introduced to the concept of preparing your own food. Typically you won’t need a lot of fancy tools or skills, yet you’ll still be able to crank out some very satisfying, tasty, easy and healthy meals.

And if you think the only thing that can come out of one of the slow cookers is crock pot chili, you’ve got a world or tasty surprises waiting for you. In fact, you can make everything from appetizers to soups, roasts, stews and even desserts. And most cookers that you purchase will come with a great crock pot cookbook to get you started on your path. Now, if you’ve already been cooking for a while, whether with slow cookers or not, and you’re ready to take things to the next level and you want the convenience that comes from cooking with a crock pot with a timer, you really need to have a look at the All Clad Slow Cooker.

Not only is the 6.5 quart capacity large enough for the biggest recipes to handle the hungry crowds, but it is also made with an exterior of stainless steel, with a glass lid and elegant lines. On top of that it has a 26 hour programmable timer, three cooking settings and the longest cooking time of any programmable slow cooker out there. This will truly give you the ability to ‘set and forget’ your meal so you can prep at one point and then come home to a house smelling wonderfully of your home cooked meal hours later.
